Therapeutic riding lessons are available to persons aged 2 and up who are physically and/or developmentally challenged. Riders must obtain a doctor’s referral and the following disabilities will be considered: Amputation Arthritis Cerebral Palsy Multiple Sclerosis Muscular Dystrophy Poliomyelitis Spina
Physical Benefits Increased balance, coordination, flexibility, mobility, circulation and respiration and motor skills, strengthened muscle tone, normalization of muscle tone, prevention of contractures. The benefits of riding as both physical and developmental therapy are widely accepted in Europe and elsewhere

With a heavy heart I announce, due to my upcoming back surgery, lessons will postponed untill 2017.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers,parents and supporters who have helped with lessons, exercising horses and fundraisng events to date.
Special thanks to Karen Griese and Kirsten Carty for their dedication and ongoing support since the beginning and for all the extra they did after my back injury .
Looking forward to 2017, hoping for a fun filled season with a return of familiar faces of volunteers, riders and families, new faces will be very welcome!!

Renfrew County Therapeutic Riding Program was established in 2012. We offer specialized horseback riding lessons to children and adults with special needs.
We are an incorporated non-profit organization which is part of the Lanark Renfrew Health and Community Services and Lanark Community Program. This program covers Renfrew County, Lanark County and parts of Leeds, and Grenville . Renfrew’s Therapeutic Riding Program relies solely on fees from the riding lessons, fundraising events, grants and donations from the community (Our charitable number is 13605 4095 RR00001).
